Scaling Tech for Mokobara’s D2C, B2B & Marketplace Operations
Mokobara is a fast-growing premium travel and lifestyle brand. With a digital-first approach, they needed robust tech infrastructure and automation to scale across D2C, B2B, and marketplace channels.

Problem statement
Initially, devx was brought in to handle ongoing Shopify maintenance like page creation, layout changes, and front-end fixes. But as Mokobara scaled, several critical challenges surfaced:
- Lack of structured access to business data for returns, exchanges, and customer analytics.
- Manual warranty processing, which needed automation and tracking.
- Real-time syncing of inventory and order data with marketplaces like Noon, where their WMS was Unicommerce.
- Introducing a 30-day trial feature with flexible return logic.
- Building a secure and controlled B2B portal for bulk buyers, with admin-controlled access and order approval.
Solution
From maintenance to data pipeline creation
As Mokobara’s Shopify store matured, devx built a custom data pipeline to streamline business insights.
- All Shopify DB data was pushed to Pragma, which served as the internal CRM.
- Zapier, a middleware layer, helped route relevant return/exchange data to BigQuery for deeper analysis and fast query access.
Automated warranty management
A custom warranty claim form was built and embedded on the site.
- On submission, data was sent to Google Sheets, serving as the processing layer.
- Using AWS, the devx team automated ticket sorting, claim validation, and follow- up workflows.
- All related APIs were hosted and managed on AWS Lambda, ensuring scalable and secure operations.
Noon marketplace & WMS integration
To power marketplace sales, devx integrated Mokobara’s Shopify backend with Noon using APIs.
- A real-time inventory sync pipeline was built between Shopify and Unicommerce (WMS), ensuring stock accuracy.
- Orders and product data from Noon were also synchronized, avoiding overselling and manual errors.
30-Day trial period feature
devx implemented a 30-day trial program that allowed customers to use Mokobara products and return them within 30 days if unsatisfied provided the product showed no signs of damage.
- A custom logic layer handled trial eligibility checks.
- All workflows from customer requests to return validations—were powered by AWS, with APIs hosted on AWS Lambda for scalability and security.
Exclusive B2B ordering portal
One of the most complex builds, the B2B solution allowed verified businesses to place bulk orders:
- Access was restricted—users had to request access and be manually approved.
- Once approved, they could log in, place bulk orders (saved as draft orders in Shopify).
- Admin reviewed, approved, and sent a custom payment link to the buyer.
- Payments were collected outside the standard flow ensuring exclusivity and control.
