Building Aiza's Shopify storefront for a multilingual, multi-currency market

Aiza is a premium international skincare brand based in the UAE. With a focus on clean beauty and sustainable formulations, the brand serves customers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia (KSA), and other international markets.

Challenge

Aiza was expanding its direct-to-consumer presence and needed a robust Shopify-based solution that could cater to three key requirements:
Bilingual experience – The website needed to support both English and Arabic, not just as an auto-translation but with precisely mirrored and contextually accurate Arabic content.
Multi-currency support – Aiza's target markets required tailored pricing in local currencies:

  • AED for UAE
  • SAR for KSA
  • USD for international shoppers

Solutions

01

Dual Language Support via LangShop:

Manual translations implemented for full accuracy, ensuring Arabic wasn't just literal translation but culturally adapted with seamless RTL experience.

02

Manual Currency Handling:

While Shopify supports automated currency switching through Shopify Payments, this feature isn't available in all countries. In this case, pricing was manually configured for each market to allow for strategic price variations tailored to each region's business goals. This ensured a localized and optimized checkout experience for customers across all three markets.

03

Wireframing → Design → Development:

A direct transition from wireframes to development wasn't feasible due to the complexities of right-to-left (RTL) alignment for Arabic and multi-currency logic. The dedicated design phase helped validate visual structure, user journey, and content alignment for both English and Arabic interfaces, ensuring a pixel-perfect experience before development began.

04

Free product workaround for WMS compatibility:

Due to UAE regulations requiring products to have a minimum value of 12–15 AED, Aiza created a workaround for Aramex WMS, which couldn’t process zero-value items. Each freebie was given a nominal value to pass validation, but still displayed as “Free” on the storefront. At checkout, an auto-applied coupon reduced the cost to zero, allowing smooth customer experience and backend operations.
